[Research Training Event Series]
The ResTes aims to provide support to the BALEAP membership in their scholarship activities. It also aims to inspire, to provide independent learning resources, and to create scholarship networks. Depending on the ResTES, this is done through a package that includes a synchronous event, which will mostly take the shape of a talk, colloquium, or workshop, and a resource pack which will be shared on this website for the membership and will include readings, a recording of the session, further resources, mentors in this area of expertise, a short discussion thread following the session. This should ensure that BALEAP members can access the useful support at point of need in their scholarship. We are building on the previous ResTes, conducted by Alex Ding and Bee Bond (University of Leeds) which covered the following areas: Practitioner identity and routes into scholarship; The knowledge base of the EAP practitioner; Different forms of writing for publication; Different methodologies for scholarship; Making our work public by revisiting some of these themes and broadening to new areas of scholarship, following the survey of the membership in June 2021.
We will try to cater to a range of experience levels (from beginners to well published scholars), and also to engage speakers and facilitators at various stages of their scholarship development.
The programme is built on a combination of volunteers and invited speakers, with an aim to encourage collaboration across institutions and contexts. Please contact us if you would like to organise a ResTES or if you have any suggestions research@baleap.org
